Overview
Maritime Resources is focused on gold exploration and development in the historic Baie Verte mining district of Newfoundland and Labrador with over 450 km2 of mineral claims and mining leases.
The company’s primary assets include the former Hammerdown Gold Mine, the Point Rousse project (including the fully permitted Pine Cove mill), the Nugget Pond gold plant and a number of highly prospective gold exploration projects across the district. Maritime completed a feasibility study in 2022 for the re-start of the Hammerdown mine as a high grade open pit project shipping sorted feed to the Nugget Pond mill for final processing. In 2023 the company completed the acquisition of the Point Rousse project from Signal Gold.
Hammerdown Mine
The Hammerdown gold deposit is located approximately 5 km southwest of the Town of King’s Point and approximately 15 km northwest of the Town of Springdale in Newfoundland & Labrador. Hammerdown was developed and operated by Richmont Mines between the years 2000 and 2004 with a cut-off grade of 8.5 gpt gold while gold prices averaged US$325/oz. During its operation a total of 291,400 tonnes of ore were mined and milled, at an average grade of 15.83 g/t Au, recovering a total of 143,000 ounces of gold. All of the ore was processed at the Nugget Pond mill with an average gold recovery of 97.1%. Mining concluded in 2004 due to low gold prices with mineralization remaining.
